Athletics

Students are encouraged to get active during recess, on intramural teams and on our school athletic teams. Participation on Grade 7 and 8 teams is determined through tryouts and criteria established by the coach. The students chosen to represent the school on these teams must be students in good standing. Team shirts and equipment used by the teams are to be properly cared for and returned to the school immediately following each sporting event.

Cross Country

Cross Country is available for September and October. Congratulations to Champlain Discovery's 2013 Running Club that represented Champlain Discovery at the cross country meet at Hugli's on Thursday, October 10, 2013. Mme Comacchio, Mme Harris is proud of everyone as it was a challenging race.

Volleyball

Volleyball season is from October to December. Practices take place at recess, and before/after school. The 2013/2014 teams of Gr 7 and 8 girls and boys participated in their tournaments late November/early December. We are very proud of their efforts and accomplishments. Both our grade 8 teams qualified for the Tournament of Champions. In the end, the boys finished 4th and the girls finished second.

Basketball

Basketball starts in January/February for Gr 7 and 8 students. Upcoming tournaments are: Gr 8 boys on February 21, 2014 at Champlain Discovery PS, Gr 8 girls on February 25, 2014 at Bishop Smith CHS, Gr 7 girls on February 28, 2014 at Mackenzie Community School, and Gr 7 boys on March 5, 2014 at Equinoxe.

Badminton

Badminton practice gets underway after March Break for Gr 7 and 8 students. Practices take place at recess and after school. Tournament will be late April at Fellowes HS.

Track and Field

Students in Grades 3, 4, and 5 participate in a school sponsored event held at our school in June. Students in Grades 6, 7, and 8 have an opportunity to compete at the county level in June at General
Panet HS. Practices and try-outs occur in May and June during gym classes, recesses and/or after school

Softball

Softball will take place in June, hosted by Bishop Smith at Riverside Park in Pembroke.
