We are very excited to introduce Champlain Discovery's first ever concert band! Interested Grade 7 and 8 students have been busy practicing with woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Mrs. Burns directs our school band. The students will play concerts at various times of the year.
The Champlain Discovery Arts classes, K-8, use their program to prepare for school-wide musicals in both December and June. Each class is responsible for a different aspect of the musical - set design, dancing, singing, memorizing lines.
Students in Grades 3 - 8 have the opportunity to participate in a school choir, under the direction of Ms. Schizkoske. The choir is the backbone of both our December and June musical productions. The choir also shares their gift of music with seniors in local retirement residences.
In the spring Champlain Discovery puts on a Talent Show. Students audition for a chance to be part of the show which takes place during the school day. Parents are welcome to attend.
Once a year, for eight weeks, students are instructed by a qualified guitar teacher. Students learn the basic chords needed to play different songs. Students perform for their parents at a concert at the end of the 8 week program.
